Morning in the X-mansion

He'd not had a good night last night. The extra minds in the house made it difficult to shut down completely. Or perhaps the fact he may have been hit by lightning before arriving here might have something to do with that.

In any case, Charles found himself very awake early morning and hunting in the kitchen for fixings to make a decent cup of tea. And not having much luck.

The microwave receives a stare that says I have no idea what to do with you before he starts heating water on the stove in a teapot.

A smirk flitting across his face. "Yes...it usually does." That's something she won't hear from older Professor X, how much he realizes his accent affects the ladies.

"You sound like you have experience with that."

This was so cool. She would never have guessed that the Professor had been a total fox and something of a ladies man when he was younger!!

Yes, after this, she will have her fair share of stories for blackmail. Especially if he relates the many times he was out in the pub after receiving his degree and....well, stories for later.

"Let's just say I have had my fair share of dates." The teapot is whistling and he takes it off quickly to steep the tea. That is one thing that has not changed, his love of tea.

"What are you currently studying?" He should get up to speed if he was going to fit in.

And probably find a different outfit.

That got another small giggle.

"So secretive."

She went back to her cereal for now, and started listing off some rather typical sounding high school courses from Bayville. As far as the school here at the mansion, she was studying typical stuff the would be X-Men related... team building, combat skills, controlling her powers, interfacing with non-Mutants... His future self had set up a pretty full curriculum to cover a lot of different situations.

"It's been pretty cool, actually. My parents were nervous at first, but they came around after they saw that I could use my powers for good."

He sipped his tea, listening and feeling quite proud of how the school has turned out. At last, a future he could look forward to. Not like the other future he had seen.

"And the other mutants, what of them? How are they fairing? The same?"

"Mostly." Kitty leaned her elbows on the counter and rested her chin on her hands. "For some, it's an adjustment depending on where they came from. I was lucky back home. My parents only wanted to hide what I could do, but they didn't treat me badly for it. For me, the adjustment was being able to openly use my ability." She looked down. "The other adjustment was getting used to the more visible mutant changes in people. I hadn't been exposed to that before, and I felt bad when people would show up and I'd get freaked out." She looked almost embarrassed by it. "I'm better about it now, but I definitely had to learn." After all, Kurt was one of her best friends now, and his blue fur didn't bother her anymore. In fact, they often joked together about how he was fuzzy and cute.

"Mmm...some are not so lucky," he says thoughtfully. However, he does sympathize. Mutations were difficult to deal with, from within and on the outside.

"And there will be more and more as time goes on." His theory of mutations in practice.

[kitty_phase]

"You really think so?"

Kitty looked interested in that.

"That idea scares a lot of people." There was a reason their school was more of a group home to outsiders.

"Yes, it does," he says in agreement. "People fear what they do not understand." But that did not mean they couldn't win them over.

At that point, a few of the other students went racing by, yelling about getting to school.

"I should get going," she said. "You'll probably have to get all the paperwork settled with some backstory for the principal." She put her bowl away in the dishwasher for later.

"I'll see you later?"
