Finding Inception
Charles showed up at the hotel promptly at noon. He was quite eager about this experience and didn't want to be late. It's not long before he's knocking the door of the hotel room that Arthur occupies.

He starts walking again, looking back at the way they came. Weren't they here before? "What happens if someone is in limbo? Instant coma? Or has no one ever come back from it?"
no subject
He's quiet for a moment at the question not sure how much of things he wanted Charles to know when the others were... "Someone came back from it, yes. But being trapped in limbo makes you question reality. It's why each one of us carries a totem. Something that will tell us whether something is real or not. But if you're stuck in limbo... you're not waking up in the real world."
no subject
"That sounds a little bit dangerous." And it begged another question as they go around the same street corner again, yes he sees what you're doing there Arthur. "But if you already know you're dreaming, since you are the dreamer, does it take time to keep a dream like this stable while being aware of it?"
no subject
Dangerous was well... that was an understatement. "This isn't taking any effort at all, actually. Now if it were someone else's mind then it would take time to keep the dream stable. But at the same time it would be kept stable with a whole team and not just one man. I'm merely the Pointman. I'm not the extractor or the architect."

"Ah, so the more people believing it to be real, the more real it is." Charles catches on fast. He also is starting to get more looks from the others and feeling a bit center of attention. "They don't seem to like me being here."
no subject
Perhaps if it was made the right way then it would be. Though as they walk he shakes his head giving a slight smirk. Charles wasn't just now noticing it was he?
"They don't like you being here because you've been in my head."
Telepathically which means his subconscious knows therefore he knows.
no subject
"Ah, I see." He narrowly avoids being hit in the shoulder by a passerby. "Anything I could do to get on their good side?" If there wasn't, Charles had a few telepathy tricks he could try but he'd rather do things Arthur's way before attempting them.
no subject
Not that he knows of anyway. Then again no one has ever tried to get on the good side of someone's subconscious. That would be a new one if Charles did try to. Not that Arthur thinks it would work.

First, he tries a direct approach, walking up to the nearest projection with a charming smile. "Hello, I'm Charles Xavier. It's so nice to me-...." and they walk by as if ignoring him.
He tries again with another but gets the same response. "Blimey, they are cold. I'm starting to wonder if your subconscious ever has any fun when it's out and about." He rejoins Arthur, considering what to do next.
no subject
"One never knows what their subconscious gets up to when they're not within their own mind."

Hey, it was worth a shot.

He follows Arthur's lead, perking up with a warm smile as he's introduced. There is a difference in response, the projection does see Arthur as if he is ok...but still won't regard Charles with anything but a cold stare.
Enough of this, Charles is taking matters into his own hands. He takes the lady's hand in his own, speaking levelly, "I'm a very good friend, I would never let any harm come to Arthur. You know that's true." there's a weight behind his words, giving Arthur's subconscious a nudge in the right direction so he will completely trust him.
The effect is startling, there's a hint of a smile at Charles, not unlike Arthur's own. And she moves to walk on by, the cold environment mellowed slightly around them. "How was that?" Charles asks, quite pleased with himself. It might not last, but he'll take what he can get for now.
no subject
"What exactly did you do, Charles?"
It amused the hell out of Arthur but that much is obvious. He doesn't know everything the telepath can do after all.

As a demonstration, he has his fingers to his temple as he says,"Hand over your wallet." Arthur will find himself doing it as if on automatic. Though whether it is due to what he said just now or the previous alteration causing him to trust Charles is difficult to say.
He's not going to keep the wallet and returns it almost immediately once his point is made. "A handy trick but it can be slightly dishonest."
no subject
"That would come in handy indeed."
no subject
...well, not a good person anyway. There was evil types of people in the world and Charles would have no problem using his telepathy against them.
no subject
Something that Arthur finds makes Charles a good man. He's silent though as they walk. Letting the telepath take in the sights.
"It's almost time."
adding a little drama
In fact, Charles has been so enamored with their surroundings, he doesn't realize a group of projections have been congregating behind them. He finds out the hard way when their path is blocked by more projections like a mob closing in. "...I get the feeling this is bad." Charles finds himself boxed in away from Arthur, two projections reaching to hold his arms so he can't use his hands.
Oh boy. lol Pulling a Mal.
Though when the projections start converging on them, holding him back away from Charles it reminds him far too much of Cobb. Of what Ariadne told him that she went through.
"Leave him be!"
It didn't matter what he did to get away, it didn't work.
yup
He could fight back, freeze them all in place but most likely it would put Attire on pause too. And the projections wouldn't take kindly to him coming back later.
So he makes an effort to keep calm and doesn't struggle back. He may not be able to reason with them but that doesn't stop him from trying. Or talking. "I realize you want me to leave, I can go just say the word...I'm not an enemy..."
They do settle a bit as he's not resisting, at least till one pulls out a gun from nowhere. Charles' eyes go wide and he braces himself for the unpleasantness to follow.
...and hopes that Arthur was right about not dying while dreaming.
The bullet hits him point blank, Charles falling down dead in the dream...and waking up with a jolt in the real world. His heart pounding in his ears.
no subject
The moment Charles' person disappears he jerks away from his own projections. Jerks away making a gun of his own appear and shoots himself, waking with a gasp and pulling the IV from his arm. The one thing he forgot to mention to the telepath was how real it'd feel in the real world.
"Charles?"
Even as he says the other's name he pulls out his die and rolls it, relaxing only when it lands how it should in the real world before picking it up and pocketing it.
no subject
He only breathes a sigh of relief when Arthur wakes up next to him, relaxing back in the chair for a moment. "Still here and in one piece...as far as I can tell." His enthusiasm had dampened somewhat about a return trip following that.
"Are you ok?"
